my decision was to let PEHA join the competition with the title »za tebou«. the band has been around for 10 years now and about 5 years ago they have been signed by a mayor when they produced the album »deň medzi nedeľou a pondelkom« (the day between sunday and monday). two years ago singer katarína knechtová left the band and is now solo. the band itself is since trying to find a suitable replacement. find out more on their homepage in case you are interested (but I suppose you will need to have basic language skills for this job). anyway, here is the video:

so how did they do in the contest? we will find out tomorrow when the result is going to be published. for now, here ist the list of all contestants:

and finally a hint: since we went online 10 years ago you have been able to download our songs. now you can do even more: you can SHARE them! currently we are uploading our songs to soundcloud and then, just like a video from youtube, you can post them on your site or at facebook. cool shit! the guy from myspace had not much to tell at all. I hardly remember his presentation. soon they have play-lists in myspace! gosh, how impressive… what else? promotion stuff for cooperation partners? I understand… myspace is definitely going down the drain. if a band has nothing but a myspace-page I sometimes don‘t even bother to check them out. I don‘t like facebook either, but it its way more fun to use it as a band. and I think its even easier for a fan to track a bands activity.

next: david from soundcloud. easy. kept it short. made his point. soundcloud is for audio, what flickr is for photos and wordpress for text. ok. got that. we started with soundcloud a while ago, but never got around to really use it. yesterday I played around with it and I like it. see: our recent mini-album “No Pumps! The “community” on soundcloud is not so much into punk, but that is not the point. it‘s the player. it works smoothly and it is easy to share your music in any community or on any website. whats cool for us is that we can see where our tracks have been played and downloaded. anyway, I am sure it will get bigger over time.

then we listened to a guy from the german VZ-group (a facebook clone) who was more interesting as I expected. they dont want people to create as much “I like …”-traffic as facebook and they want you to decide which are your favorite 5 bands. they say this way there is much more value in it. sounds ok. I don‘t think we need to find fans on ”meinVZ“ so I will not open an account there, but one day… maybe? After listening to this guy I would not dismiss this option completely for the future. if they survive…

they also had a musician from a indie emo band on the panel (with some of their posse in the audience) who also favors facebook over myspace but tried to put it in nicer words… but when I consider this, take my own feelings into account and read articles like that, I wonder how myspace will survive the next couple of years.

all in all it was a funny event. last.fm was missing, though. after my problems concerning the multiple-bands-with-the-same-name-problem I would have liked to be able to speak to one of them, but they seem to have only a small office in germany so their absence was no surprise.

what‘s up?

1) public rehearsal – our drummer has moved – away from berlin. no rehearsals anymore. drats. so we will be rehearsing while we perform live. there are others who do it that way. it can be fun. and we sometimes have a BBQ so you might want to bring sausages!

2) live concert – as soon as we have warmed up, the rehearsal becomes a regular concert. with encores and stuff. but no cover-versions. we will only perform our very own material, so the c-base cannot be sued by the german GEMA.

3) virtual megaevent – from around 21:00 the whole fun will be broadcasted into teh word wide internetz. we, or rather our avatars, will perform virtually not in the royal albert hall but inside the ST. PAULS CATHEDRAL in virtual london in twinity. this will also be broadcasted back into the c-base where you can see us twice at the same time! what a mess! tomorrow we will do a band photo with our avatars…

(we hope we will get sorted out that the stream can be received outside twinity in any browser, but we cannot promise anything. you will get up-to-the-minute news via twitter on tuesday…)

4) as soon as we are ready, the place becomes an open stage. like every tuesday at c-base. one or two of us will stay a little so if you would bring your guitar we can play the most awesome hippie grooves together, now does this sound fun? :)

well. as it turned out, the drummer stayed in sachsen-anhalt, and we had to play an acoustic set. which was not what everyone (including us) expected, but we had fun nonetheless. :)

the sausages were fine, thx to TOBI for doing the grill master! the cooperation with the c-base was great, special thx to ACHIM for everything, the virtual concert at the St.Pauls Cathedral was a success, too – thx to DANIEL (at c-base) and MONICA (in twinity). the photos of the gig are cool, thx to STEPHAN!
and the audience was just sweet! thx to everyone who attended!
